The “Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana” is an ongoing program started by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, to encourage students of Basic Sciences, Engineering and Medicine to take up research careers in these areas. The aim of KVPY program is to identify and encourage talented students with aptitude for research.
The dwindling number of admissions of the girl candidates in the prestigious IITs and NITs has been both alarming and concerning. Despite faring quite well than the boys in the higher secondary results, this dearth of female candidates in India’s top tier colleges is a fact hard to absorb.
