A Sneak Peek into National Talent Search Exam (NTSE)

Conducted by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), National Talent Search Exam (NTSE) is one of the national level competitive exams in India. NTSE has been designed as the scholarship program for the secondary school level i.e. for students of class 10th. The purpose of this exam is to search and spot students with a high level of skills and intellect and provide them with the scholarship. Every year, this exam is held at two levels including Stage- 1 (State Level) and Stage 2 (National Level). 
Both the stages of NTSE comprise of two parts. Part 1 includes Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Part 2 includes Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). The first part has all the fundamental lessons of verbal and non-verbal reasoning while the second part includes questions on Maths, History, Geography, Chemistry, Civics, Biology and Physics.

Know About NTSE Eligibility Criteria  

To appear in Stage 1, the students should be studying in class 10th at a recognised school. They can apply from the state in which they are studying. This also includes the students who are pursuing their secondary school level studies under open and distance learning, are below 18 years of age and unemployed.  Besides this, the state is open to levy its own eligibility criteria, which students must abide by.
Furthermore, to be eligible for Stage- 2, you need to have Indian nationality only, whether you are studying in India or abroad. For the students in India, those who have cleared Stage- 1 can appear for Stage-2, whereas for students studying abroad, obtaining a minimum 60 percent of marks in aggregate in Stage- 1 is a pre-requisite.

How to Fill NTSE Application Form?

NTSE application form can be filled both online and offline. While downloading the application form from the official NCERT website, you need to ensure to take the print on 8.5” * 14” size paper. With this, mention all the details correctly and submit the form to the school principal. However, leave the 4-digit of center code blank, as it is to be filled by the liaison officer or the district officer later when submitted to him/her.  After filling the application form, you will receive the admit card at your mentioned address, as per the official schedule of the authorities.
